Hurricane Katrina struck in the year 2005, it cost the New Orleans’ area  an estimated cost of over $75 billon in damages. Hurricane Katrina is the costliest Hurricane in U.S. history. This hurricane became more rapid within the Gulf coast from going to a Catergory 3 to a Catergory 5 within nine hours.  This hurricane’s path started close to the Bahamas and ended in Hendersonville, Tennese. the storm traveled 140 mph and hit Mississippi at 185 mph.also, the storm had a 25-foot  storm surge. An hurricane forms when warm, moist air from the ocean will rise. As the warm air rises the water vapor condenses to form dark  storm clouds and little droplets of precipatation. Surface pressures begin to go down as water vapor slowly condenses and releases  heat into disturbed areas. This  heat causes the air to become less dense. The warm air then rises; as it rises it becomes cooler and expands. That creates more condensation and releases more heat, which allows more air to rise.  The the heat from the surface creates a pattern of wind that moves around the center or the eye of the hurricane. Hurricane Katrina’s damage is still being fixed in New Orleans and other places so it has been about 5 years. the storm team was part of the relief after hurricane katrina. Some things that make hurricane katrina differnt from other hurricanes is that is it one of the worst hurricanes on U.S. record and was the costliest. Even if Hurricane Katrina is a really bad hurricane it isn’t the worst even if it did kill 1,836 people and injured 876 people it is nothing compared to th Indian Cyclone.
